If you are looking to make a referral to Hearing & Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS), please complete the referral form and fax it to one of our locations listed below.

If you have questions about whether autism could be part of your pediatric clients' development, you can refer to the Provincial Preschool Autism Service (PPAS). 

Once a referral is received, it will be triaged and added to the wait list. 

Did you know that most of our services to not require a doctor/health professional’s referral? Nova Scotians can contact us directly to make a referral. 

The following services require a doctor or health professional referral:

  • Vestibular/Balance testing
    • An ENT or neurologist can make a referral for vestibular/balance testing.
    • Services available in Halifax and Sydney.
  • Pediatric swallowing services
    • A referral by a doctor can be made to the IWK Feeding Clinic by fax at 902-470-8736.
  • Adult swallowing services
    • A referral by a doctor or nurse practitioner can be made to Hearing & Speech Nova Scotia or to the swallowing clinic in Halifax. A diagnostic requisition should accompany the referral.
