Interpreter and translation services

Interpreter services

At Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia, we make reasonable efforts to ensure that you and your family receive care in your preferred language.

An interpreter can help if you:

  • If English is not the language you are most comfortable with
  • Use American Sign Language (ASL)

If you need an interpreter:

  • We will tell you that you have the right to use one
  • We will provide a trained interpreter to help you
  • You can also choose not to use one if you prefer

Interpreter services are free for all clients and families.

Translation services

We are working to make more of our written materials available in other languages like:

  • French
  • Arabic
  • Simplified Chinese

If you need a resource in a different language, just ask a staff member. We will do our best to get the information translated for you.

Everyone deserves to get care in a way that is clear, respectful, and easy to understand. Let us know how we can help!
