Patient Safety

At Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia, your safety is very important to us.

We want all our clinics to be safe and welcoming places. We want clients, families, and care partners to feel comfortable talking about their care. If something doesn’t feel safe or if a mistake happens, please tell us. Everyone—clients, staff, and leaders—can share safety concerns.

When you tell us about your experience, it helps us learn and make our services better for everyone.

5 areas of patient safety

People-centred care: People using our services help plan and check their care to make sure it fits their needs.

Safe care: Our services are safe and avoid harm.

Accessible care: People get services when they need them, without unfair delays.

Appropriate care: Care is based on good evidence and focuses on the person.

Integrated care: Services work together smoothly, so care is continuous and well-coordinated.

The work that we do around patient safety is based on the 5 goals of The Canadian Quality and Patient Safety Framework for health services. Each goal provides objectives that we work to meet. Click on the goals to learn more about the work we have taken to help improve services.
